What true love can never touch.
Too long have I waited for thee
To feel thine own heart beat with mine.
I have waited here in these walls
Awaiting a sign.
A message from my love.
Yet you send not messenger, but thyself.
And I gaze into thine eyes
Seeing no less than the sum total of stars
In the heavens
Clinging to thy illustrious face.
And so I must let go.
For thou glowest with the light
Of a thousand stars.
Each and every one
Far out of my reach.
Like the moon thou art.
A fleeting glimpse mine own eyes
Are tempted to steal
And yet, like the moon
Thou art more fleeting than a dream.
Be my heart too soft,
My hands too weak
To hold thee for a moment?
No, thou art made of stars
And must soon fade.
