one moment in anothers day
The Old Man

The Old man sat there in his seat
waiting
by his window pane
for someone, anyone
to just come and
knock on his door again.

But the people walked by
rushing
with never a moment's thought
of the old man waiting.
Patiently waiting
without any moral support.

The young couple
loving
amongst all the laughing and joy
never stopping to find
an older one's lover
when the old man was just a boy.

With pram and Johnny, Mom
harrassed,
needing more hands for chores;
overlooked those at the window
as she rushed herself off to the stores.

An older married couple
shouting
couldn't hear the one faint cry,
as the old man sat, watching, waiting,
with a little tear in his eye.

The old man's son
chasing
all the money he could find
went right passed the gate
with only one thought in his mind.

The old man
sobbed
as he waited and saw
the young and old ones
walk on past his door.

As the old man sat
waiting;
he swallowed his pills one, then more.
Then with a knock death lie waiting
at last someone at the door.

In the papers it just said,
"An old man passed away",
If only someone,
maybe you,
had knocked on that man's door that day.
