A mortal tale of light and dark...
The castle walls of ancient stone,
Strong as earth, white as bone,
Stood set against the valley green
And watched the land with eyes so keen.

The men inside of whitened skin,
From ancient bonds of holy kin,
Stood tall in waiting for the age
Of the dark lord's primal rage.

The mighty walls did suddenly shake
Upon the bringing of the wake,
For out around ran an army dark
Flowing through the ashen bark.

The horses' thunder grew more loud
And inside gathered a tempered crowd,
And at the signal of the strong king white
The drawbridge fell, revealing night.

Surrounding the castle of holy strength
Was an army of an endless length,
With men in suits of armor black,
And howled like a bestial pack.

With a flash of lightning the armies flew,
And closer to the castle the dark ones grew,
With calls of anger against songs of prayer,
The shadows crept towards the holy lair.

A gleam of light echoed in the sky
As the first man raised his blade up high,
And with a thrust of great force in sword
The metal shattered off the darkened lord.

With metal chiming between blade and shield,
The battle raged and would never yield,
For neither side would give in so fast,
Even though the night could not last.

Armor glistened with a crimson glow
And a river of red on earth did flow
As cries of pain spread through the land
Like music of the war bard's band.

The battlefield where men did lie,
Of great knights with grim fates to die,
Personified all that man would know
Even if man did not want it so.

In the end it seemed no use to say
That either side won that day,
For when it was done they all would fade,
Fallen by their own brother's blade.

Then the echoing of Tenebras' call
Brought fourth The Darkest of them all,
A figure adorned with onyx mail,
Who upon a sea of shadows did sail.

With a horse of night under hold,
Wings of black and eyes of gold,
He sang a chant, but none could hear it,
And carried off the forgotten spirits.
