My Son


My son is dead
and
yet

The sun comes up
Stars still shine
Rivers still flow

The sky is blue
Birds still sing
Children still play

The flowers bloom
Seasons still change
Lives still go on

The rain is falling
My heart still beats
My eyes still see

and
yet
My son is dead
