My entry for Roses are Red #5
Dad’s Lament

Roses are red
Unless they are yellow
I wish your darned mother’s
Rose ardor would mellow.

She buys a new rose
Or two every weekend
And I get to plant em
Until I feel weakened.

My arms are all cut up
The yards getting full
A man’s house is his castle
But here I can’t rule.

That is my story
And it’s all my own fault
I bought her the first one
And I’ve no heart to say halt!
