The Inevitable Question

I pray
into the night
one phrase
catching my breath
"forever more."

How long is forever?
That which is so
simply though
yet incomprehensively vast.
How to respond?
I do not know.

Once again I am stunned
not knowing a response,
losing confidence
trying to answer an
inevitable rhetorical question.

How long is it?
I question
in awe.
When we all perish...
what will we become?
Will eternity be over?
How can this be,
forever is infinite,
how can it be?
Something
not finite:
no beginning, no end.
