I wrote this on my first day away at college
Trapped, I am a prisoner here,
yet no walls hold me back,
kept inside by only fear,
and my heart is soon to crack.

Yet the world tells me I'm finally free,
free to live life my own way,
and free to face responsibility,
but still I cry for yesterday.

I'm afraid of making the wrong choices,
now that I am on my own,
I fear I won't find help from friendly voices,
so I'll be forced to do this all alone.

Hopefully life will improve here,
certainly anything is better than this,
If I can enjoy life and forget fear,
someday maybe these will be the days I'll miss.
