perspective of the inner-child...
The Door

A little door that’s stored deep inside
Only I and another know its tide
Together we closed it and made a pact
And together we’ll open it, that’s a fact

It was a long time ago when we built this door
A promise was made, ‘we won’t get hurt anymore’
The heart of one sadly had split in two
And we would find a way to make a new

So to protect the hearts that hold so much love
We built this door in the shape of a dove
Until such time as we healed all the pain
All would be safe until we’re ready again
