Falling too far into your unconscious mind . . . (3rd place in item of month comp!)
Deceiving Mind

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve wished for this
Warm hugs, bright smiles and the sweet smell of happiness

No argument waiting to explode
Can finally be content with my humble abode

No threat of hurt feelings, or eyes hiding fear
No sign of silent crying, not a single tear

No clock quietly ticking, counting down till the end
Just quality time, thinking of ways in which to spend

The house is calm; just listen to that silent sound
No worries or problems, this peace at last I’ve found

Just look at those eyes, they light up as they shine
Hope and courage back into our lives, everything’s just fine

The soft sound of satisfaction, and the souls of ours so free
No pressures, no fake smiles, no need to worry

Always being put down, told in everything we did lack
The loss of all that held us down, no need to look back

But wait what’s that appearing, right before my eyes
A bright light, a new day, the sight of sunrise

No this just can’t be, it felt so wonderfully true
Everything’s the same, nothing's changed, nothing new

When you go to take a rest, just stop and think
Just how far into your unconscious mind, you might sink

Don’t let yourself be fooled by the hope we find in dreams
Don’t forget, its just an image, no matter how real it seems

Can’t believe this was just conjured images, the joy felt was so real
All that's left are the pieces of my shattered heart and the hope that they'll heal.
