Anti Iraq War Essay
Almost all we hear out of Washington is War War War. It is time for that to stop. Let there be no conflict with Iraq. In its history the United States has not been the agressor in a conflict. Only responding to one arising. President Bush is throwing that away if he attacks Iraq. He claims Iraq is not cooperating with the UN with banned weapons under its cease fire in the Gulf War. There is not one shred of evidence of a banned weapon of Mass Destruction. UN weapons inspectors have found nothing, and they have some of the most sophisticaded equipment available. If there were banned wmd's, they would be able to find them. The missles destroyed in Iraq recently were conventional weapons. After much pressure Iraq destroyed what the weapons inspectors have found. Hans Blix, Chief UN Weapons inspector has recently acknowledged some cooperation with Iraq and uncooperation. The cooperation in destroying the missles hampers the ill drive for war. Although there is still much uncooperation, there is progress. Iraq has been playing this game for several years. Nothing new is here, Iraq has always been stubborn. The increasing threat of war is backing aSaddam into a corner. People in a corner then to lash out viciously. That is the opening of Pandoras box, unleashing unknown perils such as attacks by Iraq sympathizers, to join with the one our President is throwing out. Potential results include attacks by groups sympathetic to Iraq, and maybye although unlikley a defeat of US troops in Iraq. Which would throw US credibilty way down. Eventhough Bush would be sure to lose the White House if he does attack, and he knows it too. It would leave the next inline in a very troublesome spot, having to concentrate on massive fencemending. A highly unpleasnt task with Russia, and current allies Germany and France. Our Government is for the people, by the people, run by the people. We elect our representitves to do what the public wishes. This Iraq war is not in the publics wishes. For proof, just look at the massive protests in the Streets. Just like the Vietnam protests. Americans must stand up to the treat to our nation. Our own President! He has the potential to unleashe power of a heavy magnitude. This power to be uneashed against Iraq is not in the public wishes. It is a threat beacause our Diplomatic front is hurt all over, allies, and other countries as well who stand in t he way of war. He stands on the verge of commiting a crime against our nationhood. Making us an unwarrented agressor, to a situation, not new in Iraq. There is some merit about removing Saddam, who has been a harsh ruler in Iraq. But now is not the time, this diplomatic reprocussions would be tremendous and US troops are spread throught the globe and thinl,y so it wise too open up a new military fron? So in conclusion there should be no war against Iraq, due to the massive anti war support, and the potential disasters of an attempted invasion. If there is to be peace in the world, we should preserve it. Not end it.
