We all have an enemy we don't want to meet
Many have wondered over the years,
Who or what I am?
Each time they had me figured out,
I came up with a different plan.

I can be as kind as the next,
Granting mercy for all to see.
Seemingly sharing to all,
Filling hearts with glee.

WHO AM I?

I am happy and joyous amongst all,
Especially when they think I have past.
But inside they all know I will return,
And keep on till I get the last.

Oh how joyous and glad they are,
When they think they have won over me.
But the game is mine not theirs,
As they will all come to see.

Their joy is only for the moment,
A day, a month, maybe a few years.
But soon they will learn the truth,
And their joy be turned to tears.

For when I sting I hit hard,
Now and then for awhile they will win,
But deep down they have to know,
It won't be long before I return again.

Bit by bit, and limb by limb,
I cripple each one in stages.
A lung, a heart, an arm or two,
And, I've been doing this for ages.

The best part of the game is,
Deep inside of them, in fear they know.
Eventually......I will win,
That all will lose and have to go..

To the darkness of my world.

Struggling, fighting till their last breath,
And when their heart has beaten its final beat.
Then and only then will they know me,
For my name is...........DEATH!!!
