Written after the suicide of a very good friend.
Drizzling, black day
An unexpected visitor
Delivered the news
Of his departure
Even with her tears
Evidence of her pain
We wanted to hate her
“Kill the messenger”
Besides
We couldn’t
Kill him
He was already
Dead.

His infectious smile
That started
At his mouth
But continued
To his dark dancing eyes
Always with a joke
Hidden in his face
His voice
Contagious laugh
All gone forever

We all sat
Together
But Alone
In our thoughts
Memories of
The King Salami
Our brother
Our friend

WHY?
We scream
Inside our foggy heads

Like a book
Well read and loved
It seemed the story
Was known
But
A hidden chapter
Changes the ending

A truth revealed
Through his pen
Poison
The color of blue
His goodbye
Spelled out
Pages and pages

The question still
Remains
Unanswered
WHY?
