Poem I wrote at a very lonely time, about a deep yearning for someone to know the real me.
Chasms of loneliness
Mountains of guilt
Tears in the rain
Of sorrow, of shame
Rivers of fears
Flowing deep below the surface
Oceans of emotions
Swelling and subsiding
with the tides of time

Floating masses of secrets
hiding from the enemy
Their faces smile
Masks hiding the reality inside
"Do not enter" signs
written in their eyes, in their voices
Not even the closest person
May enter the deepest caves
Maybe not even ourselves

We bare our hearts to the sky
Our minds to the wind
Our tears flow down
Like waterfalls
Night time approaches
Darkness draws near
We feel safe
In the shadows of our souls

But are we safe
In our own little worlds?
With our forest of emotions
Fighting to be let out
Let's put down our masks
Shall we search our hearts
And let someone go beyond our wall.
