A man searches for lost love
The letter

Through the meadow lined with trees
on winding unforgiving roads,
an old man journeyed through the rain;
he battled winds of sleet and snow.

His ragged clothes did not protect
this little fragile man,
and with each step where no one goes;
he held a letter in his hand.

In his heart he felt such joy
for a love that he had known,
but he'd forgot that long ago ;
she'd left him all alone.

His mind so old and tired now
his hands so cold and blue,
he held on tight and traveled on;
to the one that he loved true.

He traveled for a day or two
then he could go no more,
for in his mind he'd went back in time;
there was no returning door.

Another traveler came down the road
he found the sad old man,
he sat there frozen by a tree;
a love letter in his hand.

Forgive me love,
please come to me,I promise not to go,
We can spend our life together,
in my little country abode.

marylou

The smell of roses lingered there
on this letter in his hand,
he tried to get to sweet Mary Lou;
but it wasn't in God's plan.

This traveler carried his father home
as tears fell from his eyes,
He kept the letter from Mary Lou;
until the day he died.
