November 1st, First day of Nanowrimo
Okay, here goes. I’m starting on my 50, 000 words for Nanowrimo in the month of November. I don’t suppose Nanowrimo expects me to journalize the whole thing, but, that’s how I’m going with it. I don’t suppose it even matters, since the goal is to get to 50,000 words no matter how lousy or messed up they are. In that respect, I think it will be easy. Easy IF I can turn off that darn commentator, which is what this is all about anyway.
Okay, fooled around with the spacing and page set up for a few minutes. Printed out whatever notes and outlines I’ve prepared and created a physical folder and a virtual folder. I can’t think of anything else to put off starting this thing for a while. Oh wait! I can go get into some comfortable clothes. I’m still in my nightie, and you KNOW at some point, I’m gonna be wanting to change into street clothes, and if I happen to be in the middle of a good zone, then it will be distracting, so I might as well go now, before that happens.
My God, I am so pathetic. Not only did I change from a t-shirt nightie into a different t-shirt and a pair of Tony’s boxers, (big change) I also managed to waste a little more time making a new cup of coffee (the first one was 3/4 full) but I also decided I might need some sugar supplement at some point, so I got out a bit of left over Halloween candy and put it in a bowl to set next to my desk. After a minute, I decided that was the wrong bowl, so I took another couple minutes to find the absolutely right bowl to set next to me near the computer. What is this? I’m AFRAID to start? Can’t believe it, I’ve been prepping for this for weeks, mentally and physically. Now I’m getting back spasms. I’ve been at this computer for perhaps 10 minutes altogether, and I’m already getting back spasms? I usually can sit here for hours before I realize I’m hurting. So strange, this FEAR. Oh yeah, then I decided I might as well take all my meds now before the usual time, just in case I was in a zone when the time came. Geeze. This is pathetic. I knew I had some fear of writing, but THIS is totally unexpected. Oh yeah, and now the fan on my computer is getting noisy. Will I have to waste time replacing that before I can get into the work? No. I’m going to the edge and push myself off. Will I fly?
