I have searched the world abroad
only to find you in my keep.
So domestic a thing you are,
after oceans and mountains steep.

Yet when I try to love you home
a journey the jewel--your heart.
Even as I touch you now,
we seem as though a world apart

And when the band has binded us
and mutual escape is but a lie,
I'll still feel you so far away
and I think I must ask myself, why?

Oh why, oh who? I ask thy above,
"Is it really the one I love?"
