In the teenage years

The wretched face of a gangster,
And the wry grin of a kid.
The snarling cry a frightened boy,
And the haunted laugh stolen and hid.

The sobbing of a distant voice.
The emptiness of deep space.
The laughter behind secret tears,
And the sad but happy heart.

The still, fleeting street childen,
The victor's victim victimised again.
The moving lumps of stolen heart.
Again the lonely gangster's frown.

A difficult childhoods memories.
The fights and problems spelled.
Forgotten love due to those fights,
Love that from all could be felled.
