Consequences of war can be harsh. Please tell me what you think about this poem.
After the War

by Todd Messing

starvation and devastation
corruption and disruption
pleading and bleeding
crying and dying
it all comes after the war

more anger and more pain
more people become insane
though the world keeps on turning
the cities keep on burning
it still comes after the war

we should act as a shield
not as a sword
but our president could not yield
an ongoing war
this doesn’t come until after the war

in the end we will know
what people we are
our nation will show
we know who we are
after the war
