A pretty winner of a local contest
A beautiful ocean blue....

The tide comes in
a gown of greens and blues sparkling, shimmering, reflecting back the stars
The tide goes out
revealing all the ocean’s secret treasures.

Cool and inviting on a warm summer’s day
Frigid and chippy in the dead of winter

Then the great winds come,
blocking out the warming sun.
And the rain clouds gather,
bringing with it lightning; thunder.

A war amid the great sea rages
frustration rises with the tension
hell hath no fury like the ocean scorned
as typhoon, hurricane, and tempest, roars

Without warning the great sea calms
Slowly, slowly, the ocean returns to normal
From fury to friendly with the change of the winds
whales sing, dolphins dance, and seagulls laugh with glee

A beautiful treasure to keep close
A torrent of rages to keep at bay
the giver of life;
the taker of souls;
Joy and fun and a wonder to be with
Confusing and finicky and changing as quickly as the tides

A beautiful blue ocean....
