How this game we call "Life" is really played.
Life is becoming a game,
In which we strive to
Outwit, outplay, and outlast all others.
Where we aim to ascend to the top,
While stepping on those in the way.
Where we lie and ploy
To turn the best of friends against one another,
And laugh as they clash.
And once they have been outwitted,
They fall out of the game.

The game continues in an aura
Of deceit, betrayal, and treachery.
Those outwitted continue to suffer,
And a majority of those still remaining
Realize how much they are hurting the others.
They decide to pull themselves out of the game
And nurture those that have been hurt,
Knowing they have been outplayed.

A small few remain,
Either Unbeknownst to the wounds
they are inflicting, or just not caring.
They continue to speak untruths and
Betray those no longer in the running.
One by one they abandon the game,
Hoping they will be forgiven.
And then there is one; you.
The one that has been able to
Outwit, outplay, and outlast
Those that have fallen victim to the game.

You have climbed to the top,
And you are where you want to be.
You feel as if you have won the game,
Conquered life itself.
You look down at all of us
And scoff at our defeat.
You see yourself as a god,
Invincible and immortal

Yet your friends have all left you,
And those close to you have left your side.
You have become hated by all,
And your presence is ignored.
You will soon enter a world of solitude,
Never to be forgiven,
Never to be wanted,
Never to be trusted again.
It is then you will realize,
You haven’t won at all.
