Just about a ballerina
Dancing on her toes,
Dancing to soft music,
Looking like a butterfly,
In her flowing tutu.
Sorrow on her face,
Happiness in her dance.
Paying no attention
To the audience.
She just dances on,
Repeating steps practiced a hundred times.
Dances on,
Till the end of the song.
Music gets harsher,
She goes faster,
Music ends,
She completes with a stance.
Audience applauds,
Curtain comes down,
She runs off the stage,
Out of breath.
Someone hands her water,
But she ignores,
Runs back on stage,
For her next performance.
“Now that’s a ballerina”
Someone says,
The audience is in awe,
As she dances on the stage.
She dances on her toes,
She dances to the music,
She dances as a swan,
On a beautiful day.
