Unrequitted love song
Seas have parted for lesser reasons,
Birds have sung, night long,
For more unimportant occurrences.
So why now, do I feel these words,
Too heavy for you?

Lives have ended with less fanfare,
And streets have shut down,
With less loud applause.
Towns have disappeared,
With not a notice,
And here I stand, breathing for you.

Questions float in and out of me,
And horizons break, into paths of glory.
Will you choose? Will it be?
People say I am too young to see.

The future has been disregarded,
For lesser beings.
Turtles have stopped living,
Without extravaganza.
So why do I sit here,
Waiting for you?
