Loosing loved ones reminds us of how we need to live.

They say Life is for the Living; but the living cannot sustain without those precious moments, those sweet cherished times when loved ones were a part of their world. It is for this reason that those left behind can carry on, for those moments are what keep’s them hanging on. We cling to the moments of silliness that left us laughing so hard we had tears pouring down our cheeks. The times of softness as we snuggled in to watch a movie or held hands while strolling along the roadway. We will remember times of passion, serendipity, first glances, birth and growing. Our children’s firsts and those wonderful faces they make at various times of humor, sadness or awe. Many people and many times incorporate to make these precious memories. We each hold a piece of life’s puzzle for so many people. Friends, relatives and even acquaintances have some tiny tidbit that makes a piece of the puzzle. We each savor moments that we might have forgotten but someone else will remember. All these things are what makes the passing a tiny bit easier or just enough to carry on.

When I was married, my motto was not to go to bed without saying, “ I love you, I need you, and I want you.” If there had been angry times and it had not been resolved, I could not sleep without that motto. If one of us had passed and it had not been said, I could not have had a good memory to add to so many others. If you love someone, tell them every day and if you notice something new, say it. If it is something nice, it bears repeating. Compliments, hugs, laughter and smiles are just a few ways to get those endorphins going. We have the ability to make things better but so few do. Live each day as a blessing from the divine and remember that it is a day in the puzzle called Life.
Enjoy the surroundings that Mother Nature has created for you, the morning mist glistening on blades of grass, the glory of the sunrise, the brilliance of the sunset, the smell of a frosty day and the radiance of a full moon. Nature’s bounty with all the creatures that inhabit our world and the joy we get from observing them. We have been given the gift of life to make each moment one to remember and cherish.

We hurry through our lives and it is times like these that people start to think, some even regret, that they did not live each day to its fullest. We do not know from one day to the next who will be leaving. Think of these things before it happens and remember. Life is for the living but not without our precious memories.

When my time comes I want my family, friends and acquaintances to celebrate my life. To have a “remember when” get together with each person adding their unique pieces of my life’s puzzle to the others. I hope to leave behind a huge puzzle filled with joy, laughter and tears. If you think of me, if you need me, if you are remembering when, I am always with you. My children and my grand’s know if they feel a slight breeze across their cheeks that it is my caress and I am with them. Death is not an ending; it is a new beginning!
