The Axe

Is it a pen
Or is it an axe?
A pen it seems
Until my paper it whacks.

A writer is what you say you are!
A writer you think
You will go far!

I am a writer, published indeed!
You are only a thorn
Among many weeds.

This paper you hand me
You think gets the “A”.
My pen will show you
It won’t be as you say.

Any paper you give me
As you plainly will see,
Will never receive a grade
Higher than “B”.

You think you are bold
A writer you proclaim!
My pen will show you
How pathetic your aim!

For I am indeed
The success story in class.
You dear writer,
Will be lucky to pass.

I am the one
Who gets to decide
If Princeton or Stockton
Is where you reside.

Princeton is where I wanted to be
The physics pen decided not.
See dear writer, you’re not better than me,
Or in your dream have you forgot?

I am the writer of the class
You will get your “B”.
Unless of course, I read the last
Than you may just get a “C”.

My goal, is for you
To be successful,
But certainly not
More then me.
Or have you forgot?
I am the writer in class!
