poem about a life through the writings therein
There was writing on his birth certificate,

And it told of who he was and who he started out to be,

The people there were happy as they tried to make him smile.

There was writing on the walls,

And it told of who he was and of the artist he could be,

The people there were scolding him, but tried to keep a smile,

There was writing on his grade reports,

And it told of who he was and who he was growing up to be,

The people there were greedy, but still tried to keep a smile.

There was writing in his notebook,

And it told of who he was and who he wished he could be,

The people there were lonely and he wished he had a reason to smile.

There was writing on his tomb,

And it told of who he was and nothing more,

The people there were all in tears because he couldn't smile anymore.
