You held my hand so tight, you scribbled something in my palm
You wrote a message in my palm
I knew it was for me
You tried so hard to tell me
the worst was yet to be.

You broke a tear to show your pain
You held my hand so tight
You trembled and you jerked around
Then I lost you in the night

My fear and anguish fell upon us
My life was fainting still
The touch of your sweet finger tips
Far out weigh a pill

That special moment seems to be
A guiding light over hurdles and hill
You wrote it in my palm that day
I cannot define it still

I know there is a purpose
God never hands us more
than we’re suppose to handle
That is my gentle war

I am here to defend us
The illness took your power
It took away our future
And left us with an hour.

I ache; I hurt; like an old
Sailor alone on the sea
I long and long for you
to return and comfort me

There is so much
I do not understand
People too busy to to notice
So few to hold my hand

I pretend you are there to call
Pick up an imaginary line
Just to say hello,
know you are there
catch my fall
like so many other time
"You're mine"

I hear your tender voice
feel your arms around me,
you’re there; I know you are
Earth-heaven break that bond
You are out there waiting for me
To wave my magic wand

Where is the reason
For taking you away
Where are you now my dear
Listen while I pray
the nights feel dark
the days seem so gray
you are there
you are so far away
