A poem based on an extremely cute couple and an exchange between them that I witnessed.
they stood
her small feminine frame
inches away
from his

eyes
the color of ice held up to a summer sky
met pools of blue,
sky and clouds before a storm.
comfortable silence.

he beheld her face
mesmerized,
memorizing,
as if it would disappear

slowly
his gentle hand began to
trace the line of her jaw
a whisper of a touch

eyelids
fluttered as he paused, lowering his smiling lips
to graze
her rouge dusted cheek

they
were themselves
comfortable
in their own skin

one person
could make them both
feel this
how they had longed to feel for years

for him it was
only her
for her it was
only him
