Found and lost love. Goodbye Sunshine.
Lost Sunshine

The comely Princess paced the stone castle floor
Having it all, but yearning deep inside
For something more

Dreaming of romance, fantasies of ardor
A handsome, and noble prince perhaps
From some exotic shore

So I came and swept her from her castle confines
Took her to me with kisses dripping honey
Entwined in passion as a tree among the vines

We built our home in the shade of the glen
Planting and farming the rolling land
Joy upon joy, I was the happiest of men

The comely princess paced the wooden cottage floor
Having it all but yearning deep inside
For something more

Scheming of adventure, fantasies ,and flirtation
Lusting for intrigue to spice her dreary days
effecting my heart to become uncertain

What had become of my daybreak, my sunshine
The spring in my step, the hope in my eye
My dear princess of honey and wine.

I would give her my all, offer up my humble life
I would lie at Hell’s door at her bequest
To take away all pain and strife

But lo, a traveling minstrel with flowery tongue
Telling stories of travel, and quests unending
Enamored my young wife and off they did run

The sun did set, the colors all gone turbid and gray
My mind muddled filled with confusion
Ever since my sunshine went away

The fields went bare, the livestock died away
The cottage rotting slowly year by year
Leaving me to face the coming day

The graying, bent man walked the wooden floor
Dreaming of a past filled with hope and joy
Having nothing and wanting nothing more

........................................nothing more
