First time, thought I would have a go.
Old, gnarled but standing proud,
countless mysteries does it shroud.
Embracing life with boundless joy,
a place of magic for girl or boy.
Such momentous changes all around,
Shifting visions of colour and sound.
Ever ready to shelter friends in need,
holding strongly to Natures’ creed.
Persevering down through the years,
bringing love, laughter and tears.
Life no longer with years ahead,
only sweet memories now instead.
We both have experienced wondrous times,
life adventures that bond and bind.
Tears suddenly make it hard to see;
Do I lament the life of the tree?
Or am I lamenting the life of me.
