the author & little white liars
Oh, those little liars! They tickle the deepest pleasure centers of the mind and body, promising bliss and euphoria. They turn the roar of the outside world into a memory, enveloping all in their false beauty, softly whispering their siren song, always promising more and greater ecstasy, but they lie. They steal the soul, and destroy the shell that remains. Their temptations are simply a ruse, to lure the helpless into the trap. Once captured, the victim is damned to a hell of endlessly chasing that which can never be caught. The beauty becomes an ugly dull ache, and the euphoria fades into a maddeningly vague memory, one not possible to recall with any clarity. The great deceivers, how could the promises be false? How can the ascent be so easy, and the descent so arduous? Why do I believe those promises, and allow them to set free the demons within? I mustn’t forget, it’s just a temporary thing, stay strong, and ignore the voices until tomorrow.
