A sonnet I wrote recently, about guess who?
Ere I met you, my world hath fallen dark
All shades of bitter gloom and murky gray.
But whence to your soft singing I did hark
Twas like the brightness of newborn day.
Milady, thy jewel’d eyes and raven hair
Are lovelier by far than any work of art,
An’ worth far more to me than purple vair,
The treasured joys of mine eyes and heart.
Thy soul, sweet kindness a lady befitting,
And thy spirit, passion, pure as flame,
Did capture my heart so endlessly flitting
Twixt love and lust, chivalry and shame.
Thy very name doth holy sound.
In you, eternal love have I found.
