Proximity by "Cye Leigh"

I’ve touched the bottom of the pacific
Fell off the top of the world
Secured my seat and tray table in the upright and lock position
So many times
But I forget still

Still I forget what doing can teach
What anger and regret
Forget to preach
In the moments most needed
When my strength is my weakness
When my eyes glaze with desire
And I succumb to this dirty little fetish
Cos
I can plague the most beautiful thing
I can do it in the dirtiest way
And I can pay
For my mistakes
I can clean up
The damage of their life quakes
In this ten year plan
All I gotta do is sign here And
Admit
I was wrong.

Sometimes I guess
We just forget
To read that
Fine print
That’s too fine
To read
Too fine to see
What its trying to say
Like maybe
WRONG WAY
In big BOLD letters

She said
I’ll learn my lesson
When I get it.
But shes gotten it
And forgotten it
And got lost
Trying to live it
Shes caked on the muck
And fed it
And now shes rottin in it’s
Sticky consequences
No less
Than perfect
Picket white fences
Surrounding this sad little girl
Locking her up
In a mistake-less world
To show her how pure
How perfect
She is-n’t

Yes I’ve watched the sun
Succumb to the oceans pearly blue depths
Blew with the yellow deserts sand dunes
I’ve been locked up in a gray room
With one dim light
Swinging
Swinging
Swinging from the ceiling
Hypnotizing
The truth
I’ve pushed and pulled
And played
With
This little girl
To see how far I could go
With out giving in
And with out
considering
Where I’ve
already
been

but as far as I can tell
living
this living hell
I have yet to see
No more than the proximity
Of purity or perfection
So I’ll just add this mistake
This fault
To my collection
And learn
to consider
The costs
rather than wait
for my innoncents to be
falsely bought
with porcelain smiles
and generous deeds
with a guilty conscience
and more tricks up my sleeve.

Cos I’ve sat back against the stone cold wall
Of a castle
Of a stare
And I’ve watched
The stupidity
Blossoming there
Like when they always
Look for someone to blame
They scan the room for somewhere to aim
They have itchy trigger fingers
Wrapped around a child’s gun
Always ready to point
But to
never
ever
make one

cos i've been all over the world now
and I have yet to see
No more than the proximity
Of purity or perfection
Just hypocrites glazed with transparent corruption
But when I look into their eyes I see my reflection
I see through their disguise
Their pockets full of lies
The truths they forgot to mention
See I’ve taken that extra step
To accept
What I’ve done
Rather than point twisted fingers
And run.
