A free writing piece about an unusual friend.
I realize even as I am writing this that I will never figure Patrick out and that's okay. I know more about him from the sumbliminal signs he holds up than what he tells me.

Patrick likes to feel up your gray matter. In Patrick's world, you don't have to rhyme but it helps as long as you carry the one. Patrick keeps a messy truck but an orderly mind. Patrick loves women, but he can't live with one.

Patrick asks the stupid questions to find out who the smart ones are. Patrick will give of his wallet, his heart, and his mind, but not of his time so if you have his attention, don't waste the moment.

Patrick sums you up visually. Patrick says things to shock you into looking at what he wants you to look at, not at what he's showing. Patrick lives a life that is altogether better and worse than the one you are living.

Patrick takes 42 pills a day, but is the healthiest person I know. Patrick gets an erection when he's sleepy. Patrick is a cat lover and mourns the loss of each one.

Patrick recognizes the faults of his father and refuses to visit them himself, even if that means being alone. There is no subject he will not engage and he concerns himself with all matter, but not all matters.

Patrick listens to the music of angry young white men. Patrick has no patience for idiocy. Patrick understands that sometimes it is better to leave well enough alone.

Patrick challenges the profane. Patrick will stab your hand if you poke him too much. Patrick writes sonnets and talks about poop.

Patrick thinks I'm brilliant, which for me is as good as beautiful because Patrick devours you mentally. And all a girl ever reallly wants is to be devoured.
