an exerpt from my current work "Poser"
Today is homecomming. Yesterday we had a pep rally and a bon fire. I thought the pep rally would be boring and I considered skipping it with Alison, but it was hillarious. There was music and costumes and people running around like idiots. There was this one skit by the boys varsity soccer, where this one guy had a guitar and a spedo, and was singing a panda bear song while the team ran around dresesd up like animals. Then the cross country team had a dance off between nerds and pimps. It was so funny.

The bon fire was ok I guess, there was an egg toss and tug-of-war, but other than that it was really just the high school standing around a giant fire. Kaitie came drunk with her boyfriend and apparently he held a knife up to someone's throught and he got sent to juvey. She was suspended for only five days, so shes basically kicked off the soccer team for the rest of the season.

When I got home I talked to Bill online for an hour about his "deepness" and if we were friends or just aquaintences. I like him even more now because there was some stuff he said that felt like we were really bonding. Like, "I can only talk like this with you," and when I relplied "maybe I'm the only one listening," he said "maybe you're the only one I'd care to." WOW, gasp, this could be the beging of a beautiful friendship.

Tonight is the homecomming dance. We had plans to go to McDonalds before and to walk over, but if it's still raining then maybe not. It's raining right now, so it probably will be at 6:30 tonight too. I'm debating on weather or not I should ask Bill to dance. I'll have to keep debating.

*************************************************

Dan, my brother Nick's friend, came over to our house because Nick and a bounch of his friends were going to Zeb's for dinner. I was worried about weather or not we were still going to McDonalds because it was still raining. I interviend in a series of phone calls until we finally set up how we were getting from McDonalds to the dance.

Mom insisted on doing my hair in a complicated-pull-back-thing, and it was freaking me out all night. We were 5 minutes late to McDonalds, and low and behold, I was the only one there. Finally my friend, and stalker, Kook walks in, followed by Amber and Kevin was 15 minutes late.

It was really funny, we all had happy meals with Hello Kitty and G.I. Joe action figures. Old people were asking us about the dance and if were thought their grandsons were hot.

When we were done, we had an hour to blow, so Kevin called his dad from the pay phone to come and get us. We took Kook home and went to Kevin's Dad's house. It has three stories, and Amber and I were boxing with some boxing gloves we found. We decided it was time to go after me punching her in the boob several times repeatedly.

When we got there, we found Sarah and Brian. Emily brought Matt from religion class, and I started saying how Albert, a kid I like to bother in our religion class, should have come too. It took forever to get in and it cost five bucks.

As soon as I got there, I was again debating on weather or not to ask Bill to dance. I decided to goof off for a while because I was making myself really nervouse. One good thing that came from all of that was I learned how to grind. Thank you kevin.

So a slow somg comes on and I'm still arguing with myself. Timmy, a boy in my grade who has a mental retardation, comes up to me and asks me to dance. So of course I say yes, because saying no would be just plain mean.

So were dancing and I'm getting a few looks from people and then Kevin and Amber come over because they went to the dance "just as friends," but I know Amber thought there was more to it. After the song was over, I was talking to Lauren, Paige and Eric about weather or not I should ask Bill to dance. They talked me into it.

So I'm incredably nervouse at this point. Lauren and Paige said they would do it for me. The next slow song comes on, and what do you know, Tim asks me to dance with him... again. I'm freaking out at this point because if he kept doing that I would never get to dance with anyone else. It was over so I go up to Lauren and Paige. They bring me over to a chair and sit me down, and tell me that Bill said no. Pang... ouch that hurt. Did I let anyone see that? Nope, I kept dancing despite the fact about how upset I was. Not so much that I wouldnt get to dance with him as the fact that this probably ruined whatever friendship we were going to have.

So I'm trying to not let it bother me when a thought pops into my mind. Tim will ask again! I needed to find a counter attack and quick, or I was doomed. Then I think of Quinn, my buddy, my pal. Sure enough he said he would dance with me.

But something was wrong with Amber and she wouldnt say what. Later she told me that she asked Kevin out and he said no. I didnt even know that she liked him. I gave her a hug and told her how sorry I was. And I was sorry, about more than one thing that night.
