Youthful Love
Wasn't I Young

Wasn't I young
Weren't you a child
Didn't I have a caustic tongue
Didn't you go wild

As whirlpools in a muddy pond
Innocent sinners thrashing blindy

Didn't we love
Didn't we care
Didn't I shove
and wasn't it rare

Conflicting pains butting heads
Loving combatants striving

The emotions ran wild
and the love was pure
I was amok, as a child
and there was no cure

Raining tears, and glowing light
Slipping, desperate for a finger hold

We hung on for years
Through laughter and pain
Grins and tears
What did we attain

Release, relief, struggling no more
Empty failure, a cloud of dismay

Fifteen years gone by
I wonder about you
Where you are now and why
We had to
Go our own way
If you were here before me
What would I say
Something stupid, that's me
but I'll always love you
I will always love you
