THE UNDERSTANDING OF LIFE

Have you ever just sat there and pondered the idea of life? It is the one thing which we do not understand. When something major occurs in life we automatically ask ourselves "WHY." We are incapable of understanding that some things must happen in order for us to live.
Though others may not have the same beliefs as I, it is my beliefs that get me through each day. I was brought up in a Christian home, yet I do not share their same views on life. I believe that things happen because of fate. Due to the hand of fate in our lives, things will happen to us no matter what. If he draws the card, then he is sure to put it down. When he does, there is no stopping the inevitable. This does not mean that all is engraved in stone. In life we have our paths which we must choose, and from our choices we have a set fate. Each path has its set destiny, but it is our decision which is the best for us. Though many of us may choose the same path, it does not mean we will end up with the same destiny.
As Dostoevsky wrote in CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, "one must suffer, for suffering is a great thing." I must say that I agree with this statement completely. It is through our sufferings that we develop our inner self. Everyone deals with their pain differently, and the way we cope shows the person that we are inside. Suffering is an important part of life; it shows our strengths and weaknesses while allowing us to see what life is really about. An example of this is when we lose someone we love. After they depart from their life on earth, we realize those things which are most important to us. We also learn which lifestyles can end in despair, and which lifestyles can end in prosperity. This is one of the ways we choose which paths to take in life.
I feel that in order to have a fulfilling life we must learn to have an open mind. We should be able to learn from not only our own mistakes, but also the mistakes of others. If we could learn how to listen to others in their times of despair, we could then learn how others live. When others talk to us about their problems we should listen to everything they have to say. They are only trying to help us by informing us about the mistakes they made. Many people do not realize there is a life outside their own world, therefore, they do not realize that others suffer too. We busy ourselves with our own problems while not allowing ourselves the right to help those who have greater problems than our own. By helping others we are also helping ourselves. We are learning about other people, their problems, and their grief. This allows us to make the decision in life to not let this happen to us. Eventually, we learn all those things we don't want in our lives and all those which we do want.
All these things may not give us a better understanding of life, but I believe it shows the way. I believe that to understand is to accept life as it throws things in your path, and be happy with where it takes you. We cannot say that it is all completely unfair, because we make the choices that lead us to our ending point. Take heed to advice given to you and cherish every word of it. It may one day be the very thing that saves you from eternal despair.

WHY ARE WE HERE?

What is life? Why are we here? Does anyone really have a true purpose in life? If asked, many would say life is about pain and suffering; others would say life is about love and happiness. Then, there are those who would say we are here for nothing more than life and death, and we only occupy our time while awaiting our end.
Many people are born into the harsh realit of life. They must struggle to survive from day to day. Love is but a fairy tale, happiness is a myth, and luxury is a mirage within a dream. Life is some sedistic game by which rules we must abide. We are puppets on a string, bound to the despair we are forced to endure.
There are those who are born in the lap of luxury. They never experience true hardships, and death is just a fact of life. Their childhood is filled with laughter and joy, and love is a part of their daily routine. Life is about fun and games, and enjoying every moment they are alive. They have faith in their beliefs of a superior being, and anticipate their eternal life after death.
Those who disregard any reason for our being here do not result from one set background. They are just people who find no purpose in life. We are born, we exist, then we expire. Whatever happens in life just happens. There is no master plan, and we only accomplish that which we aspire to. There is no faith in a higher being, nor any belief in a life hereafter.
We may never learn the reason for life, or if there is a reason at all. The world will go on, life will remain a mystery, and answeres will be sought. Though the answers shall remain unknown; we will suffer, we will love, we will live, and we will die. In the end we may finally discover that which has been yearned for. There may very well be a life after death, or live may come to an end when we draw our last breath. We will approach our end with these questions in mind, and hope for an answer at the finish line.
