For my husband to know how much i missed, loved him during a transition in our life
I sit to write
A poem of love
Sadness is all that flows
My heart hurts with longing
For a time gone by
I miss my friend

I want to come and sit and talk
Share a cup of tea
Phone hugs are good
Just not the same
I miss my friend

I lie in bed and think a bit
My life is good in this new place
It's hard to make a life sometimes
Part of my heart is with you each day
I miss my friend

I make new friends
They are treasures for sure
They care for me well
But my mind is full of memories
Of the way it use to be
I miss my friend

People ask me if I miss my home
My answer is not the truth
It's not that I don't love them here
I just wish they understood
I miss my friend

I listen to you talk
Recounting the scenes in you life's play
With my part written out
My pulse grows quick
With each sentence you speak
Please understand
I miss my friend

I hold that pain inside of me
That place is close to my heart you see
That place I call my friend
Hold me close
Even though we seem far
Please remember
I miss my friend
