This is a poem based on a photo I wrote for my intro to Poetry class.
Water

If I were to throw a stone,
upon your silver surface,
would it shatter?
And then melt into your flesh
like the ice reaching their fingers
out to touch you

Or would it splash
and ripple
until it grew to a tropical storm
that will terrorize the coast
of some distant city?

What if I threw myself
in? Would you accept
me into your icy depths?
So I could hear the
muffled cries of
seals?

Or would you spit me out?
So I could smash
upon the rocky skin
of glaciers that long
to be you
