A modern day plague. WARNING: Poem contains self harm, suicide and psychological distress.
She destroys herself with the darkness of her mind
Stabs herself with the daggers of her fractured heart
She cries out with the pain of a lifeless ordinary
Interjected with the compassion of hells demons
The obsessions that once gave her wings
Turn to be the shackles on her feet
She longs to fall
Delapus Resurgum

The open window falls far to the streets below
The exit of the prison that contains him
His face scarred with the tracks which his tears daily run
From his eyes, and the horrors they have seen
The power that once held him high
Turn to be the shackles on his feet
He longs to lie
Delapus Resurgum

The fires that rage in their own vice
For the things that they cannot reach
And the people they put forward
To reach their goals before them
The drive that once gave them aim
Turn to be the shackles on their feet
They long to fray
Delapus Resurgum

The tricks that her mind plays on her eyes
Are the tricks that perverted her vision
Of the future, of her past, of her life,
Her ambitions lay in ruin and her heart lies beside it
The innocence that once graced her mind
Turn to be the shackles on her feet
She longs to fade
Delapus Resurgum?

The voices that whisper only to him
Drive his sanity into a dark place
Where no help can be found
Where no chance of life can be grasped
The imagination that wrought our inspiration
Turn to be the shackles on his feet
He longs to die
Delapus Resurgum?
