I wrote this when I was actually lying on a cold cafeteria floor at school during winter.
Upon the cold cafeteria floor

Lying upon the cold cafeteria floor,
Gazing up at florescent lights,
Bleakly illuminating the unfeeling room,
Pseudo-brightness of the sun.

Outside winter envelops the world
Snow-forming a white indiscernible haze,
Blocking out all sun and warmth,
Summer is only a dream.

Lying upon the cold cafeteria floor,
Ventilated “breezes” chilling my uncovered hands,
Cold seeps up from the ground to me,
Its origins unlimited.

Outside is perfect silence,
Winter smothering signs of life,
Killing every song and color,
So peaceful in its fury.

Lying upon the cold cafeteria floor,
Dainty murmurs of students to be heard,
The atmosphere pulls all warmth from my body,
And I shall stay her forever,
lying, cold, upon the cafeteria floor.
