Dialogue Exercise for Contest
“What was that all about, Allen? You may have just lost us our biggest client.”

“Listen, Mandy, the last thing I need right now is a lecture."

“That’s exactly what you’re going to get unless you give me some answers."

“Care to join me in an afternoon drink?”

“I feel like I’m in the middle of a goddamn movie. We certainly have nothing to celebrate. At least not where business is concerned. Would you just please tell me what’s going on?”

“What you need to do is relax, Mandy. If Watson has any loyalty, he’ll be walking into this office any minute.”

“You spit in his face, Allen. You’ll be lucky if he doesn’t pull all of his accounts from this firm. Do you know what that means? Do you have any idea what the result will be for us?”

“Here, have a drink.”

“I’m not drinking that. I can’t.”

“Mandy, you’re making too much out of this. What happened to the solid spitfire I met?”

“She got pregnant.”

“Say again?”

“Surprise, Daddy.”

“I guess we need to talk about how we’re going to win Watson back then.”

“You’re not upset?"

“Gosh, why should I be? You just told me I’m going to be a daddy.”

“But we weren’t ready. We weren’t prepared.”

“We don’t have to plan everything, Mandy. Sometimes things happen and we just have to go with it.”

“Like you spitting in Watson’s face.”

“Yeah, that was pretty stupid. Let me go see him. I’ll swallow my pride and apologize. I’m sure he’ll take pity on me.”

“I hope so. We can’t afford to lose him as a client. Not now.”

“You’re right. Let’s celebrate tonight over dinner.”

“And will we be celebrating the baby-to-be or your having Watson back as our client?”

“Well, there’s those and then there’s our engagement.”

“Say again?”

“I’ve had this thing in my pocket for days. Just haven’t had the right opportunity to propose. This seems like the best time as any.”

“You sweep me off my feet, you know that, Allen?”

“I love you.”

“Me, too.”

“And baby makes three.”

“What are we going to name him or her?”

“How about Watson?”
