I reached for God's hand...
I reached for God's hand
I'd missed it in my search.
I'd found that in this land,
I belonged to the lost man's church.
I'd seen the good crumble.
I'd touched the rich man's gain.
I'd heard the poor man's innerds grumble.
I'd felt the blessed man's pain.
I'd felt that God had turned away
from the tear stricken-heart felt pleas
Away from the hard lessons learned
and the corrupted church's melodies.
I found that I did not understand
how the Trinity could be three
How one could be Spirit, Father and Man
So perfect, yet die for me.
And then I noticed I didn't need
to understand what couldn't be explained
that He works in His own time and speed
that His will would not be tamed.
That God had taken my hand and went
to save both you and me.
Listening to the prayers we silently pray
Loving His children tenderly.
Then I realized my error
when I thought He'd denied my faith
that He wasn't telling me yes or no
but that I should just patiently wait.
