The different cultures between the Southern and the Northern of Taiwan
I moved to Tainan County about 5 months
ago. Actually, I was born and raised in Tainan County until I was 19 years old. After passing Taiwan Police College entrance exam when I was 19 years old, I left Tainan to Taipei. After graduated, I worked in Taipei Fire Department which located in Taiwan capital for 7 years long. I almost have been used to live in here.

It goes without saying; living in city is more difficult than living in county.
Fresh air, clean water, and cheaper costing, those things make deep and good impressions on people. However, I have some different opinions.
In fact, some of people who have lived in city can’t stand living in county. Why? There are some reasons I think:

1. It’s not convenient to live in county, the public transportations aren’t very popular, the shopping stores aren’t easy to be seen in neighborhood, the hospitals are a little bit far from your house, and the banks have always closed when you arrive home….

2. It still keeps traditional cultures in county, no matter those are suitable or unsuitable for nowadays. Especially sexual discrimination is agreed in county society. There are many southern of Taiwan think women should do all of housekeeping, cooking, cleaning house, washing clothes and so on, even some of husbands would beat their wives without shames.

3. To speak frankly, most of county folk whose education qualities are lower than city folk, so the logic and thinking of country are building on feelings or emotions, not on laws and rules. Even they love to use scandals to destroy somebody who they don’t like, whether the person make some mistakes or not.

I don’t mean to smear county folk of my country, this artic is written from my real feelings. I love environment of county, but some of county cultures should be changed.
