A thank you to my dearest friend for pulling me out of the depths of despair.
Dear Friend,

You have always been a great friend to me
forever believing in how good of a person I can be
so how can I tell you thank you now
when there is so much I thank you for? Mere words will not allow
for when I look back on the times I barely could abide
I realize that in my darkest hours, you were forever by my side
I owe you so much, yet I feel as if I can give you so little in return
there's so much I long to tell you, when will I ever learn?
Time together is growing shorter by the day
I must speak now, so I can tell you what I really want to say
many times I've lost an opportunity to tell someone how much I care
because when I've finally found the words to tell them, they're no longer there
I cannot let you go through your life without telling you just how special you are
for to me, you've forever been my shining star
shining light into the darkness of a once lonely life
and leading me, like a lighthouse, out of the strife
you wiped away every tear with a warm embrace
a shining light and always a smiling face
so I don't know how to thank you, for there are things words just can't tell
like how much I've appreciated your care, or how you've always known me so well
so I guess all I can do is give you my heartfelt thanks and tell you that this is true
through it all you've been there, and so my dearest friend, I'll forever be there for you.
