A satirical view of Beer League Soccer
##### LEFTY'S SORRY BUNCH #####

It's the last game of the season
and the home crowd's all abuzz
The coach looks on with lingering doubt
the way he always does.

The whistle blows, the ball's in play,
the lads are on the move.
"We'll be relegated" yells a fan,
"If things don't soon improve"

But lefty has a master plan
he whispers it around
and soon enough three visitors
lie crippled on the ground

The referee has lost his cool
he snorts and stamps about
and pointing at Old Lefty, says
"this red card says you're out!"

The injured lads are toted off
and play resumes anew
By half time Lefty's sorry bunch
are down by twenty-two

A moan escapes from loyal lips
its a terrible upset
but down the wing streaks twenty-nine
who lobs it at the net!

The keeper, on his coffee break,
just watches the ball go in.
Oh what the heck, its only one,
he thinks, We're bound to win

The sullen home crowd wakes at last
with a loud resounding cheer
"Hooray for us!" they chant at length.
"Its our first goal of the year!"
