A personal tribute to a Vietnam veteran.
By the fountain is where he waits
At the end of a bottle lies his fate
He is no other than Sgt. E.T.
A Sgt. From the war with the Vietnamese
Hurt and pain float around in his eyes
He lives a fantasy life
A world he created in his mind

By the fountain is where he dwells
He has seen things which no man dares tell
A woman of beauty, it’s a picture of his wife
When asked “Where is she now?”
He simply points to the sky

By the fountain is where he stumbles
A lost man whose life slowly crumbles
He yells in anger
How the Muslims ruined our lives
He honestly thinks tomorrow
He will be sent to make Iraqis die

If you ever find yourself
By the Buckingham fountain in Chicago, Illinois
Listen to the silence
And you might just hear a voice
He may stagger up
He’s missing more than one tooth
He may ask for a dollar or more than a few

By the fountain is where he waits
By the fountain is his final resting place
