This is about the desire for children.
It was early; strands of blue light came through the blinds spreading across her form. She was wrapped in a blanket pretending to sleep as he looked in on her. He knew she had loved him once, years ago, but he was unsure now. Nothing was clear about her now. He gave up watching her and went back into the kitchen.

She rolled over to look at the door. He had been prefect once, now he was not. He was here one moment then gone the next. She curled up, and took the picture off the nightstand. A man and a woman in wedding attire stared back. They had lost it all, they were so happy once, now they were sad.

She heard the door shut and a car start. She got out of bed, her bare feet feeling the cold wooden floor. She walked down the hallway and entered a room; it was a beautiful shade of blue with teddy bears and other stuffed animals sat on shelves. She sat down in the rocking chair, surveying the horrid room. She let the tears fall holding a stuffed bear to her. It was not fair; nothing was, for five years they had tried. She wanted a child, but miscarriages and scorn was the only things that came out of it.

The door creaked and opened. She looked at him and then looked away. She was ashamed and did not want him to know. He walked over to her taking her small hand in his. He still loved her, no matter what happened. He kissed her forehead and took her in his arms.

Even with tears streaming down her cheeks and unwashed hair she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, maybe that was because he loved her or maybe it was because she was. He did not need children, he needed his wife and she needed him.
