For competition. Wheeping willows in the storm and rain, oh what solitude!
The whisper in the trees and weeping willow,
Announce the approach of a storm and rain.
As the breeze ripples water in the lake,
Shadows of clouds cover hilly terrain.

Winds whistle through cracks in the window,
Nature’s song on a wet stormy day.
The constant draft is frigid and unpleasant,
As I sit in my rocking chair and sway.

The fireplace lit, warm blankets laid out,
It’s going to be a lonely, bitter night.
Who ever imagined wanting solitude,
Would dissolve into a rueful plight*.

* rueful: Causing, feeling, or expressing sorrow or regret.
* plight: A situation, especially a bad or unfortunate one.

Background: I had to write this for a contest using the words: whisper, willow, winds, stormy, wanting. I added the definitions for rueful and plight because one author argued with me that it made no sense. I guess we all have our opinions.
