poem for my dad upon buying summer cabin-written as if my parents were telling the story.
Our first little home and was a brand new trailer,
No TV, no radio, no phone.
But we worked really hard and filled it with love,
And turned a go kart into a home.

Then we finally found a house we could buy,
A cute one way up on a hill,
We’d climb in the window and sit there alone,
And dream of how life would be filled.

We bought that house and moved in soon,
And there we raised our three girls.
We added on, and built a nice home,
And enjoyed our own little world.

The days have gone by and the kids are all grown,
And now we need a fun place to play,
So we’re buying this cabin way out in the woods,
What a good place to spend a fall day!

We’ll swim and we’ll fish; we’ll nap and relax,
The grandkids will have so much fun.
We’ll sit by the creek and sip some wine,
And gaze out at the setting sun.

All those years ago, who would have thought,
How our love and hard work would come through.
Back then all we had was each other,
Now we have not one house, but two!
