Summary of this Book...
Raea is a high school senior and her life as a human is about to end. The crystal shard she bears is not a pretty pendant; it's a collective of powerful entities who chose her as their Keeper, a protector of one of the four shards that power a machine capable of destroying whole worlds
I especially liked...
The world-building is interesting and unique: how often do you come across aliens mistaken for angels? ... Great concept!
I didn't like...
However, the social life of teenagers distracted far too much from the story line. The main characters were meant to be 18, apparently. I would have guessed they were 12/13.
The amateur writing is very clear, with frequently repeated phrases, and an awful lot of grammatical errors.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Delete it from my Kindle, never to be seen again (I didn't)
This Book made me feel...
Frustrated - the concept was good but the writing and formatting was poor
The author of this Book...
Melanie Nilles grew up on a western North Dakota cattle ranch and farm and graduated with a degree in business administration from NDSU. She currently resides in central North Dakota with her family, cats, and horse. Her published works include the Starfire Angels series. As M. A. Nilles, she publishes darker, adult science fiction and fantasy, including Tiger Born (the first of her Demon Age series) and Legend of the White Dragon.
I don't recommend this Book because...
I enjoy all types of books whether for young adults or older readers. This novel however, is not something I would recommend.
It seems like this is a decent first draft, but needs significant work in order to be truly what it could be. There's great ideas, only so-so execution. The editing is poor. There are numerous missing words. The reader has to fill in these missing words to make sense of the story.
